Most virtual instruments offer dozens or even hundreds of parameters, but performing several of them together is rarely easy. A mouse only controls one parameter at a time, while most hardware controllers limit how naturally you can combine movements. TouchMod IN offers a different approach.
TouchMod IN turns an iPad or Windows touchscreen into a multitouch controller for the VST3 instruments you already own. Instead of translating finger movements into MIDI messages, it communicates directly with plugin parameters. Simply move a control in the instrument once and TouchMod IN learns the parameter automatically. Within minutes you can build a custom touch layout for your favourite instrument.
With up to four fingers, you can control as many as eight parameters simultaneously. This makes it possible to perform evolving filter movements, morph between sounds, shape multiple effects and create expressive gestures that would be difficult to reproduce with a mouse or conventional controllers. The result is a more direct and physical connection with your instruments.
If you already own an iPad, you already have a capable multitouch controller. The included iPad app connects wirelessly to TouchMod IN, providing a dedicated touch surface while your DAW and plugin remain visible on the main display. If you use a Windows touchscreen instead, the same interface can run directly on your computer or on a second touchscreen monitor.
TouchMod IN also records your finger movements and plays them back as looping automation. Playback speed and movement amplitude can be adjusted in real time, allowing recorded gestures to become an active part of your performance and sound design.
Whether you use synthesizers, samplers, pianos or other virtual instruments, TouchMod IN adds an expressive layer of control without changing the instruments you already know. It simply gives you a new way to play them.

Essession has released TouchMod IN, a Windows VST3 plugin that gives musicians a new way to play the virtual instruments they already own. By using an iPad or Windows touchscreen as a multitouch controller, TouchMod IN makes it possible to perform up to eight plugin parameters simultaneously with natural finger movements.
Many musicians already own an iPad or touchscreen, but rarely use it as an expressive controller for software instruments. TouchMod IN transforms these devices into dedicated control surfaces, making it easy to shape sounds, blend timbres and perform complex parameter changes that are difficult to achieve with a mouse or conventional hardware controllers.
Instead of relying on MIDI assignments, TouchMod IN works directly with VST3 plugin parameters. Simply move a control in the instrument once and TouchMod IN learns it automatically, allowing custom touch layouts to be created in minutes.
The TouchMod app for iPad, available on the Apple App Store, connects wirelessly to the plugin and provides a dedicated multitouch control surface. Windows users can also run the touch interface directly on a touchscreen, including a second display, while keeping the DAW and plugin windows visible on the main monitor.
TouchMod IN can also record touch gestures and replay them as looping automation. Playback speed and movement amplitude can be adjusted in real time, allowing recorded movements to become part of a live performance or sound design session.
TouchMod IN is designed for VST3 instruments, including synthesizers, samplers, pianos and other virtual instruments.
