Common questions
These are the questions we receive most often. The answers are selected from the full TouchMod FAQ and focus on installation, licenses and compatibility.
Open Settings → License. You can also click the red license banner when it is visible. Enter the email address connected to your license and your license code, for example TCH-IN-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
After successful activation, TouchMod stores a signed license file on the computer. You do not need to enter the code again on that machine. An internet connection is required during activation.
A license can normally be activated on up to five computers. Each activated computer uses one activation slot.
Before moving TouchMod to another PC, open Settings → License on the old computer and select Deactivate. This releases the activation slot so it can be used again. Without deactivation, the previous computer continues to count toward the limit.
Extract the downloaded ZIP file. Copy the complete TouchMod IN.vst3 or TouchMod FX.vst3 folder to:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
Keep the included worker files inside the same VST3 folder. These include TouchModPluginWorker.exe and MetadataScannerWorker.exe. Do not move or delete these files separately.
Restart your DAW after installation. Run a VST3 plugin scan from the DAW if TouchMod does not appear automatically.
No. After activation, TouchMod works without an internet connection. Internet access is required when you activate or deactivate a license.
TouchMod Remote also works without internet access during use. The Windows computer and iPad only need to be connected to the same local network.
During the trial, TouchMod stores the trial start date locally. You do not need to enter a separate trial code.
The trial lasts 28 days and starts automatically the first time TouchMod is used on that computer. You do not need to request or enter a trial code.
When the trial ends, TouchMod stops processing audio until a license is activated. Projects, presets and settings remain stored.
During the current launch promotion, TouchMod IN and TouchMod FX are free until September 15, 2026. Download and activate them before that date to receive a perpetual license and free updates.
On the old computer, open TouchMod and select Settings → License → Deactivate. The computer must be connected to the internet during deactivation.
Install TouchMod on the new PC and activate it with the same email address and license code. If you no longer have access to the old installation, or deactivation fails after a crash or reinstall, contact support.
TouchMod stops processing audio until you activate a license. Your projects, presets, parameter assignments and settings remain stored. You do not need to create the setup again.
After activation, reopen the project and continue with the same TouchMod configuration.
TouchMod works with compatible third-party VST3 plugins. TouchMod IN loads VST3 instruments. TouchMod FX loads VST3 effects. Other plugin formats cannot be loaded directly.
During the full plugin scan, TouchMod builds a catalog of your installed VST3 plugins and checks whether they load reliably and provide usable parameters. Compatibility varies between plugins. An unstable plugin may work better in Sandbox mode, while some plugins may be excluded after the scan.
TouchMod works as a 64-bit VST3 plugin in Windows DAWs that support the VST3 format. Load TouchMod IN on an instrument track. Load TouchMod FX in an effect slot.
Behavior can vary slightly between DAWs, especially around plugin window focus and plugins running in Sandbox mode. Use the trial to test TouchMod with your own DAW, audio settings and plugins.
